Home Categories Jailbreak 5.1.1 Jailbreak iOS 6 Jailbreak 6.0.1 Jailbreak 6.1 Unlock Downloads Sunday 6.1 untethered jailbreak release all but confirmed

As we reported earlier today, the official website for the evasi0n 6.x untethered jailbreak has gone live, but there has been no official release stating an ETA. However, speculation suggested that the program would be publicly released this Sunday, and details from this new site seem to back that up.
For one, the main image on the site has all the devices displaying the date as (February) 3rd, which falls on this coming Sunday. Additionally, the progress bar shows 60/100, and Sunday is 4 days from today (exactly 10%) per day.
Only three more days to go, stay tuned for more progress updates!

iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak: What To Do Before You Run It?

Probably Sunday is the day of the release of the first Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 5, iPad mini and fourth generation iPad, as well as for your all iDevices with iOS 6.1. With this article we want to share with you some important “guidelines” to follow to prepare for Jailbreak.
1. Upgrade To iOS 6.1 Before It’s Too Late
Apple usually, shortly after the publication of the untethered jailbreak from hackers, releases iOS updates that do not introduce great news but they are just designed to close the security holes exploited to make the change.
If you still have your iPhone 5 on version 6.0.2, you should upgrade to the latest version: no one knows for sure when Cupertino will release a hypothetical iOS 6.1.1 and even when it does, you will have a few days to carry out any repairs/upgrades to iOS 6.1.
After this short period of time, Apple will close the digital signature of this firmware, which means that if you have not saved the SHSH files using TinyUmbrella, it will be impossible to restore  without upgrading to the latest version no longer compatible with Jailbreak.

2. Save SHSH File Of iOS 6.1
SHSH file corresponds to the signature of a particular version of iOS and serves to reset without updating, so if we need to recover after the release of an update “Anti-” Jailbreak “by Apple, we can avoid update.
For each public release of a new firmware, it is a good idea to save the SHSH file. In some cases in the past thanks to these certificates we could also use it to downgrade, but it is currently a very remote possibility.
Here are the steps to follow:
  1. Download TinyUmbrella 5.11.00 b for Windows or OSX directly from these links: [ WIN ] [ OSX ]
  2. Connect your device with your Mac or PC
  3. Go to the Advanced tab and check the option Overwrite existing SHSH files on “Save SHSH
  4. Finally, you can proceed by clicking on Save SHSH.
3. Make a Backup Of Your Data
It is always strongly recommended to make a backup of all data on your device, with the advent of iCloud do not think many more to the backup, in these cases it is always better to have a backup on your computer, and considering that the backup no longer includes the installation file of the application, we recommend that you connect the device to your computer and perform a sync from iTunes.
iOS 6.1 jailbreak not support following devices:
  • iPhone 2G
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPod Touch 1G
  • iPod touch 2G
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPad 1
  • Apple TV 3

Go Mobile with Google Affiliate Network: Publisher best practices

This is the second post in our ‘Go Mobile with Google Affiliate Network’ series. Today, we’ll focus on best practices to help publishers make the most of mobile in affiliate marketing.

We kicked off our blog series earlier this week with details on the importance of mobile for affiliate marketers. As publisher, you already understand the growing market in mobile e-commerce. Below we’ll share some insights to help you mobilize your website.

Optimize your website for mobile
Visitors to a mobile or tablet site may be at a different point of the purchase funnel than visitors to a desktop site, so it’s important to have an optimized site to match user intent and behavior. What’s more, optimizing for mobile may also help you increase your conversion rate through all of your marketing channels, including affiliate.

Before you get started, find out what percentage of your visitors are coming from mobile devices. Next, consider how your site might look to mobile users.

When building your website to support different devices, consider if you want to utilize responsive web design, or if you should create a separate mobile site. Once you’ve decided on a configuration, be sure to consider some of our additional best practices for mobile users: simplify your landing pages and use strong call-to-action language to attract mobile visitors.

You can simplify navigation by:

  • Adding hierarchy and vertical scrolling to aid information access
  • Be thumb-friendly by designing your site so even large hands can easily interact with it
  • If applicable to your website, make your site local
  • Avoid using flash, since not all mobile websites support it
  • Minimize load times for the convenience of your mobile viewer
  • Learn, listen and iterate by building your site with input from your audience

And, if you’re wondering whether to first create an app or a mobile site, build the site first as it will offer more cross-platform reach than apps. See our Help Center for more information on optimizing your mobile website.

Tell advertisers your website is optimized for mobile
Once you’ve optimized your site for mobile users, it's important to make sure advertisers are aware. You can easily update your Website description in your Publisher profile so advertisers that view your profile can see that your site is optimized for mobile.

Get mobile affiliate ads
We’ve made it easy to quickly access standard mobile ad sizes. You can find mobile affiliate ads by clicking the Links tab and using the Size filter to find standard mobile ad sizes. You can also get mobile ads using Link subscriptions and the Links API. See our Help Center for a list of standard ad sizes for Android, iOS, and other devices with full HTML browsers.

A publisher's experience with going mobile

Pageonce, a popular app to track your money and pay bills, uses affiliate marketing to show targeted offers. Pageonce finds that their "users are much more engaged and focused on their mobile device. They know what they want and they want to be done quickly and efficiently,” says Steve Schultz, the company's Chief Operating Officer. Over the past year, Pageonce has built a healthy mobile ad revenue stream through Google Affiliate Network. Steve shares some tips for mobile success: "Messages need to be tight – there’s no room for extra copy, landing pages need to be optimized for the mobile experiences and offers have to be relevant."

While these tips are a great starting point for optimizing your mobile site you can find more tips & best practices in our GoMo Guide for Publishers at howtogomo.com.

Apple v. Samsung: Judge Rules Samsung Did Not Willfully Infringe

Samsung’s infringement of Apple’s design and utility patents was not “willful,” a federal judge ruled Tuesday, rejecting Apple’s bid for bonus damages in the Apple v. Samsung smartphone lawsuit.
Judge Lucy Koh of the Northern District of California reasserted that Samsung did in fact violate Apple’s intellectual property, though.
This post-trial ruling partially counters August’s jury determination, which found Samsung willfully in violation of seven of Apple’s design and utility patents. These covered the design of Apple’s iPad and iPhone products, as well as essential user interface elements. Apple was not found to infringe on any of Samsung’s intellectual property.
Judge Koh explained in a seven page order that to constitute willful infringement, Apple must “prove by clear and convincing evidence that there was an ‘objectively high likelihood that its actions constituted infringement of a valid patent.’” Koh, going patent by patent, determined that in each case the violation was not willful.
Apple and Samsung’s legal battles in this case began over a year ago, and went to trial in August. A nine-member jury then awarded Apple $1.05 billion, and because the jury ruled the infringement was willful, the monetary damages could have tripled in post trial deliberations. At a post trial hearing in December, Koh heard arguments from each party as to whether the damages were appropriate, if any of Samsung’s products should be banned for sale in the U.S., and if the jury decision should be thrown out. Although the jury originally ruled heavily in Apple’s favor, Judge Koh’s post trial decisions have lessened damages for Samsung.
In addition to addressing willful infringement in Tuesday’s ruling, Samsung’s motion for a new trial was denied, and Judge Koh ruled Apple would not be getting three times its originally awarded damages amount.
“Given that Apple has not clearly shown how it has in fact been undercompensated for the losses it has suffered due to Samsung’s dilution of its trade dress, this Court, in its discretion, does not find a damages enhancement to be appropriate,” Judge Koh wrote.
She explained that Apple delivered an inconsistent argument, first claiming money could not compensate Apple for the harm it had been dealt by Samsung’s actions, then requesting $400 million in compensation.

128GB Apple iPad Is a ‘Savvy’ Response to Surface Pro

In a somewhat uncharacteristic direct response to a competitor, Apple introduced a 128 GB fourth-generation iPad, today, a move that appears to be in response to the Microsoft Surface Pro.
The launch of the 128GB iPad follows Microsoft’s announcing the pricing and availability of Surface Protablet. Apple’s high capacity model will begin shipping February 5th, four days before Surface Pro goes on sale.

“That was a pretty savvy move by Apple,” IDC research director Tom Mainelli told Wired. “If you were to ask Apple, they’d say they dont make product announcements related to what anyone else is doing. But if you line it up, it does make for a compelling story versus the Surface Pro.”
The Surface Pro, priced at $899 for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB model respectively, could be a big hit in the enterprise market. And Mainelli believes 2013 will be a big year for tablets in business.
“In 2013 we’ll see a lot of those companies that were on the sidelines waiting to see what would happen with Windows 8 making the jump to iPad, and the higher capacity could certainly be appealing to more corporate buyers,” Mainelli said.
Apple’s 128 GB model starts at $799 and jumps to $929 for the WiFi + Cellular version.
Forrester analyst Charles Golvin pointed out that in the past, a 128 GB iPad offering would have been far too expensive to be a reasonable option for many, or to fit Apple’s pricing scheme. But the prices for Flash memory have gone down significantly in recent years, making the $100 price jump from the 64 GB model to 128 GB possible.
“Despite the move to the cloud, there are customers out there that are finding themselves hitting the ceiling on the storage on a 64 GB iPad,” Golvin said. As people are using tablets more and more, they are finding new and innovative uses for them, including more media to consume and files and images to store.
And while some may still decide to go the Windows route with their tablet purchases, particularly in the enterprise, there are a large number of Windows emulators and mirroring apps out there for those that rely on Microsoft software and want it on a tablet. And companies know they can create or buy apps to use their tablet exactly the way they need to.
Although a minority, this higher capacity iPad could also end up luring some potential MacBook Air buyers into opting for the lighter tablet instead, Golvin said. The MacBook Air does have some “tablet-like” qualities, in terms of lightness and the touch-based gestures on its trackpad. With comparable prices, the 128 GB storage level could make it more on par with the ultraportable laptop offering.
For those in the stocks and investment world, by creating a new, higher priced flagship offering Apple also has the opportunity to raise its ASP (average selling price) of the iPad, which has dropped since the launch of the more budget friendly iPad mini. In layman’s terms: Apple can make boatloads more money on each iPad sold.
So basically Apple just found a way to tap into an even larger potential tablet segment, and make a ridiculous number of benjamins in the process.

How to Think for Yourself

  • 1
Ask questions, particularly the question "why?". Ask everyone (not just the so-called experts), and try to answer your own questions as well. When you get an answer, try to think of exceptions, and then ask yourself why those exceptions exist. Never be satisfied until you arrive at an answer that has very few exceptions.

  • 2
Look for selfish motives. Some people will become very annoyed, and perhaps even offended, that you're questioning something they accept without question. Whenever people want you to think a certain way, it's because it benefits them in some way. But that benefit is not always obvious or direct.
    • People want you to adopt their perspective because it makes them feel more comfortable and secure (safety in numbers).
    • People's beliefs make it easier for them to feel like a good person. These people don't want those beliefs challenged because it's as if you were challenging them personally - it seems to them that you are questioning their "good-person-hood".
    • People are often trying to look out for your best interest, and truly want you to be in step with their beliefs without looking into their statements any further.
    • People just want to be seen as authoritative and trusted, so they're personally invested in whether or not you buy into the things they say. That's why they take it personally if you don't automatically buy in.
  • 3
Stop being a people pleaser. People who don't think for themselves are often scared of disagreeing with others, and scared of "rocking the boat". A freethinker, on the other hand, bases their self worth on something other than what people think of them. These people may still experience rejection, discomfort, and anguish, but they will continue to think for themselves.
    • In cases where someone says he "just wants the best for you," you may be accused of distrust, and it could make you feel guilty. But keep in mind that anyone who truly cares for you will be willing to explain their point of view and why they feel that way, and allow you to decide for yourself whether that is enough evidence for you.
  • 4
Do the research. Look into the statements made by others. You'll be amazed at how many times you'll find lots of evidence to contradict the statements of others. Yet, some people spout erroneous information and never question the accuracy or truth of what they're saying. Use Google or go to the library, and search for information to prove or disprove the statements made. Remember where you get the "evidence" from. Be aware that, just because you saw it in a book or on the internet, that alone does not make it the truth.
  • 5
Decide whether to speak up. Thinking for yourself is one thing; expressing your thoughts is another. If your conclusions don't line up with those of others, you can keep them to yourself, or present your own perspective. Just be aware that the latter is likely to lead to heated arguments.
    • Once you've found evidence, one way or the other, you can speak up about it. "Yes, you know after we talked last time, I was so interested that I looked that up. That's amazing, isn't it, hard to believe, but true!" Or conversely, you can say, "I know that sounds amazing, and I hate to burst the bubble because it's fun to believe that could be true, but I looked it up, and it looks like it isn't true. I feel bad to be the bearer of bad news, but I just don't think that's true. You can look at ____________ (wherever you found your disproving evidence) and see for yourself."
    • If you'd rather avoid arguments and debates, employ some evasive maneuvers. Change the subject, find a reason to step away, or just say "I don't really want to talk about this right now."
  • 6
Be humble. When you're breaking the news that your friend is passing along a false tale, let them know in a humble and compassionate way - don't just come in crowing and congratulating yourself for debunking a myth. You may look smart to others for a minute, but to your friend, you look like a jerk.
  • 7
Live outside your comfort zone. Not only will some people be very perturbed by your refusal to take their statements at face value, but you will also learn to question your own assumptions, and that can make you feel lost and confused, like walking into a dark room. It takes courage to face uncertainty. Be Bold.
  • 8
Beware paralysis by analysis. When you're thinking for yourself, you're taking full responsibility for your life and your actions, because you can't say you were trusting someone else's judgment. This can be very nerve-wracking, and lead to excessive self-doubt. Remember that thinking for yourself doesn't mean being sure. It means making decisions based on your own analysis, rather than someone else's. There will always be some degree of uncertainty, no matter what, that you must learn to accept and cope with.

Is this the first picture (sort of) of the iPhone 6? 'Leaked images' reveal parts of new Apple handsets

Images of what is believed to be parts of the forthcoming iPhone 6 have emerged online for the first time.
Apple are said to have been preparing several new versions of its iconic smartphone this year, including a cheaper, plastic-bodied model aimed at customers in emerging markets.
The need for the company to diversify its offerings was underlined yesterday by a report which showed that the iPhone is losing its appeal among well-heeled Asian customers.
Is this the first look at the next iPhones? The image purporting to show the speaker parts from the forthcoming iPhone 5S and iPhone 6. The same part from the current generation is shown not to scale

Is this the first look at the next iPhones? The image purporting to show the speaker parts from the forthcoming iPhone 5S and iPhone 6. The same part from the current generation is shown not to scale
And the leaked images come as rumours began circulating that Apple is also readying a new version of its iPad with 128GB of storage - a potential direct challenge to Microsoft's Surface Pro, which launches in the U.S. next week.
The photos, which the editor of French tech blog Nowhereelse.fr said he found 'while browsing the web', show speaker components which are similar to ones used in the iPhone 5.
They were apparently leaked online by an employee of the Far Eastern company which manufactures the parts for the Silicon Valley tech giant.
The rather fuzzy images purport to show the block speaker parts which will be used on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6.

Both parts appear to be similar in design to the part currently used in iPhone 5s, but the one thought to be for the iPhone 6 is slightly smaller.
It is speculated that this could actually be designed for the as-yet hypothetical 4.8in iPhone, an iPhone Mini or a possible budget iPhone.
There have been rumours that Apple is preparing a cheaper version of its iPhone for emerging markets, where demand for the smartest of smartphones has been hampered by its rather smart price-tag.
But stiff competition at the top end of the market by tablet/smartphone hybrids like Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 has also led to rumours that the company could also be readying a larger version.
The same parts are shown from above: The fuzzy images were apparently leaked online by an employee of the Far Eastern company which manufactures the parts for the Silicon Valley tech giant
The same parts are shown from above: The fuzzy images were apparently leaked online by an employee of the Far Eastern company which manufactures the parts for the Silicon Valley tech giant
While it is not possible to tell for certain whether the photos are indeed legitimate leaks of iPhone parts, Nowhereelse.fr has published a number of accurate photos in the past.
The writer claims the source of the images, whose identity he has chosen to keep secret, told him the 5S is set for launch between March and July, while the iPhone 6 will be unveiled at the year's end.

That matches the predictions of a recent analyst's report, which said production of the upgraded version of the iPhone 5 will begin in March for a June release.

IS APPLE PREPARING TO TAKE ON MICROSOFT WITH 128GB iPAD?

Apple is reported to preparing a 128GB version of the iPad, which would be perfectly positioned to take on the latest top-of-the-line pro version of Microsoft's Surface tablet.
The forthcoming fourth-generation Apple tablet with a Retina display would not be a redesign of current models but rather an addittion to the current line, sources told 9to5Mac.
It will join the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB fourth-generation iPads which Apple already has on the market. No price has yet been released.
    A fourth generation iPad
It comes after Microsoft last week announced it was to market a pro version of its surface tablet in North America from next week.
Powered by an Intel x86-type processor, the Microsoft Surface Pro will run a full version of the latest Windows 8 OS, allowing it to use fully featured Windows software rather than the slimmed-down apps currently available for Windows RT.
That has allowed Microsoft to position the gadget as a complete laptop replacement.
It comes in both 64GB and 128GB versions but, unlike Apple's tablets, does not have a SIM slot to enable connection to mobile networks.
The expectation that Apple is preparing to expand its so-far one-dimensional smartphone range comes as analysis of mobile web traffic from Hong Kong and Singapore showed consumers there are turning away from its products.
Driven by a combination of iPhone fatigue, a desire to be different and a plethora of competing devices, users in these influential markets are turning to other brands, Reuters reported.
In Singapore, Apple's products were so dominant in 2010 that more devices here ran its iOS operating system per capita than anywhere else in the world.
But StatCounter, which measures traffic collected across a network of 3 million websites, calculates that Apple's share of mobile devices in Singapore - iPad and iPhone - declined sharply last year.
From a peak of 72 per cent in January 2012, its share fell to 50 per cent this month, while Android devices now account for 43 per cent of the market, up from 20 per cent in the same month last year.
In Hong Kong, devices running Apple's iOS now account for about 30 per cent of the total, down from about 45 per cent a year ago. Android accounts for nearly two-thirds.
'Apple is still viewed as a prestigious brand, but there are just so many other cool smartphones out there now that the competition is just much stiffer,' said Tom Clayton, chief executive of Singapore-based Bubble Motion, which develops a popular regional social media app called Bubbly.
Where Hong Kong and Singapore lead, other key markets across fast-growing Asia usually follow.
'Singapore and Hong Kong tend to be, from an electronics perspective, leading indicators on what is going to be hot in Western Europe and North America, as well as what is going to take off in the region,' said Jim Wagstaff, who runs a Singapore-based company called Jam Factory developing mobile apps for enterprises.

Apple releases iOS 6.1 with additional LTE support

After five beta test versions, Apple today released iOS 6.1, the first major update to iOS 6 since September.
The software, which went out this morning as an over-the-air update as well as a download through iTunes, brings a few new minor features, along with bug fixes.
Chief among the new features is 4G LTE support for more carriers, along with a feature that lets users purchase movie tickets from Fandango after finding showtimes using Siri. Apple also returned the option for iTunes Match subscribers to download individual songs from iCloud, something that was quietly removed in a previous software release.
On the privacy side, the update also adds an option to reset Apple's advertising identifier option, the "non-permanent, non-personal, device identifier" feature added as part of iOS 6.
Other, minor changes in iOS 6.1 include new boarding pass behavior in Apple's Passbook software, tweaks to Safari, reworked music playback controls from the lock screen, and a back-end change in Apple's mapping software.
The update comes less than two days after the release of a fifth beta version of iOS 6.1, which Apple oddly put out to developers during the weekend.
Apple's last update to iOS 6 was iOS 6.0.2 in mid-December. That software, which went out to users only on Apple's newest devices, fixed a handful of bugs, including one that kept iPhone 5 users from installing over-the-air software updates. It also fixed an issue with lines appearing on the software keyboard, and a bug that deleted meetings from calendars when accepting an invitation

Go Mobile with Google Affiliate Network: Why Mobile?

This is the first post in our ‘Go Mobile with Google Affiliate Network’ series. Over the next few weeks, we'll highlight best practices to help advertisers and publishers make the most of mobile in affiliate marketing.

There’s no question about it: mobile is everywhere and continues to grow. As more devices are activated each day, users are able to connect to the web in new ways. Two out of three smartphone users now access the web on their devices (Our Mobile Planet, Google & Ipsos, 2012) and more websites are producing smartphone-optimized content, presenting businesses with exciting new opportunities. In fact, a recent study states that over 85% of marketers reported that they plan to increase their mobile advertising budgets in the near future (ANA/MediaVest, 2013).

You can see additional key statistics about US mobile consumer behavior from the 2012 Our Mobile Planet smartphone research in the infographic below.

Click to download US Mobile Consumer Behavior infographic

    Mobile's impact on e-commerce
More consumers are using their devices to research and shop online, and smartphone research influences buyer decisions and purchases across channels. Mobile shoppers are primed for online conversions -- 96% of smartphone users research products across multiple devices, and 37% of users that research on smartphones lead to purchases on their desktop (Google & Ipsos, 2012). The latest eMarketer research predicts that the share of mobile sales for all retail e-commerce may increase from 11% in 2012 to 15% in 2013 (eMarketer, 2013).

Businesses are increasingly redefining their marketing strategies to engage the new, constantly connected consumer across devices. Below we’ll share some mobile best practices for the affiliate channel to help you be better positioned to reach consumers across the multiple paths to purchase.

    Make your website mobile-friendly
It's critical to have an optimized site that’s customized to mobile users, not just because of the size of each device, but because the context reveals a different consumer mindset. Visitors to a mobile or tablet site may be at a different point of the purchase funnel than visitors to your desktop site. This is especially important in a conversion-oriented channel like affiliate marketing.

Consider how your site might look to mobile users. Are you offering an optimized experience? 79% of consumers say they will turn to a competitor’s site after a bad mobile experience and 55% say a poor mobile experience hurts their opinion of a brand (Google/Sterling Brands & SmithGeiger, Sep 2012).

Building a separate mobile website is an appropriate solution for many businesses, but it’s also important to understand how responsive design might fit into your plans to GoMo. In this blog post, our Mobile Ads team summarized how responsive design allows you to create a single website that will adapt to the device on which it’s being viewed, whether it’s a laptop, smartphone or tablet.

You can learn more specifics on going mobile at howtogomo.com. If you’re more technically inclined, take a look at our Webmaster blog post, as well as detailed recommendations on the Google Developers help site.

Go Mobile with your Google Affiliate Network program
In addition to website optimization, advertisers using affiliate marketing need to ensure conversion tracking works as expected. Just as Google Affiliate Network advertisers are required to successfully track conversions on their desktop sites before they launch their accounts, Google Affiliate Network advertisers must also implement our conversion tracking pixel on their separate mobile websites.

In addition to conversion tracking, it’s important to use ad sizes common to mobile devices. To help publishers get mobile ads more easily, we've included common ad sizes for Android, iOS, and other devices with full HTML browsers as standard ad sizes in the Google Affiliate Network interface. For a list of all standard ad sizes for mobile, see our Help Center.
